We know that social connection and the environment are largely impacted by community safety. Violence affects health and quality of life in both the short and long term, for people directly and indirectly affected. In order for individuals and families to thrive, they need to feel secure and at home in their community.
Our grantmaking supports nonprofits that advance safety and connectedness in communities by changing systems to reduce violence, promote peace and provide support for victims of violence. Communities without crime and the fear associated with crime can lead to neighborhood connections and promote safe and healthy communities, housing, businesses and economic growth.
Casa de Esperanza's focus on listening and learning allows for change to come from within the community, based on people’s needs and the strategies they develop. Click on the Grantee Spotlight featured on this page to read more about the impact of this project.
