We are accountable. Transparent. Trusted.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the state’s largest health plan. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota traces its roots in Minnesota back to 1933, and today serves 2.7 million members in every Minnesota county. The Foundation was established in 1986.

Blue Cross and its family of companies focus on key elements of health across the spectrum. Center for Prevention is Blue Cross' work to tackle the leading causes of preventable disease: tobacco use, lack of physical activity and unhealthy eating throughout Minnesota.

The Foundation has a unique focus "upstream" on social and economic determinants of health to improve the health of neighborhoods throughout the state of Minnesota.

We are continually updating our plans and grantmaking to reflect the ever changing, complex needs of communities across Minnesota. Our grantees are our partners, and we listen to their insights. Informed by research and the work of our grantees, the Foundation is poised to help communities overcome unfair and unjust barriers to health equity.

The work of the Foundation exemplifies the mission of the entire Blue Cross organization. We must continue to carry the banner of health equity and keep moving health forward together.
